2020-05-05 Update - COVID-19 - Day 30 - Partners

2020-05-05 Update - COVID-19 - Day 30 - Partners

Good Evening,

Yesterday, Governor Murphy announced that we will finish the 2019-2020 school year under Distance Learning. The realities of this pandemic have made it impossible to return to our schools, but teaching and learning will continue through the end of the academic year.

Information will continue to come from your schools regarding end-of-the-year procedures, events, and celebrations. We are working with our safety officials and the county to celebrate all of our students’ achievements as enthusiastically and safely as possible.

Join us in celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Day. Let your teachers, and everyone in the district working for our community, know how you appreciate their efforts. If you tweet, remember to include the hashtag #BRingonthedistancelearning.  See those who have already posted here.

As we are all working under Distance Learning, we would be remiss if we didn’t show our appreciation to all of the families supporting our students. COVID-19 has made us all teachers. I received an email from one of our B-R principals today. Before becoming a principal, he was an elementary teacher here in B-R and a veteran teacher shared with him a poem that, while written years ago, is so appropriate today. Never has the school-home connection been so important. Thank you for all you are doing as our Partners in education.

Important Reminders:

  • Timelines and calendar
  1. As per the governor’s directive, we will continue on DL for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
  2. All school facilities and grounds remain closed to the public. Please do not use any outdoor equipment, including playground elements, at this time.
  3. The academic calendar will remain the same for the rest of this school year. This includes our give back days. Barring emergent events, May 27 and June 5 will become days off from DL.
  4. The district continues to deliver food to qualified families. If your financial situation has changed due to this crisis, please let us know by going to our website here (Select Free and Reduced Lunch).

We hope that you are safe and well at home. We are and will continue to be here with you.
Please continue to make healthy decisions and reach out if you need anything.

Stay safe,

Russell Lazovick
Superintendent of Schools
