A Message from Van Holten's Principal

Dear Van Holten Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! On behalf of the professional and support staff of Van Holten School, it is a pleasure to welcome you and your child to the start of a new school year.  We hope that you have enjoyed the summer and we are looking forward to having your child(ren) join us, virtually, on Tuesday, September 8th.

Important Information
Virtual Learning Information:

Information about virtual learning and technology can be found under the Virtual Learning tab on the District website. It will be updated frequently with new information and resources.  This will include a video and instructions explaining how to access your child's Google Account and how to join their Google Classroom. https://www.brrsd.org/virtual-learning/parents
Thank you in advance for understanding the importance of ensuring that students login and be ready to learn by the start time, designating a learning area for students in the home, helping students stay focused, and ensuring that the students are the ones doing the learning. Please know that students will be expected to have cameras turned on while in class. They should use the mic and chat as directed by the teacher’s expectations and directions.  
Teachers will be taking attendance and parents do not need to complete a Google attendance form. Please follow regular procedures for reporting an absence

Your child’s teachers will let them know any materials needed for subject areas, online resources and any applicable log-in information.

Classroom supplies such as pencils, crayons, etc. will be provided when students return for in person learning in October. If for any reason, your family does not have these types of materials at home please contact the school. We will work to get them to you.

PowerSchool Parent Portal:

Information about individual student schedules and how to access PowerSchool will be sent out from the Central Office. The Parent Portal will give you your child’s placement for the 2020-2021 school year.  

Emergency Contact/Demographic Information:

Please remember to update your child’s information on PowerSchool. Updating your child’s contact information is extremely important in case of emergency situations. Please update as soon as possible. Once you have updated your information, the Main Office will receive an alert and you will receive a confirmation that the changes have been recorded.
