A 4th Grade student was able to recite the correct spelling.
In a marathon affair that consumed 13 rounds, Aarav Poleboynia was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion of Van Holten Primary School.
On Monday, January 29, the final round of the Scripps Spelling Bee was held when eight students participated.
According to Susan Harwick, the Elementary Teaching Specialist at Van Holten and the coordinator of the school’s Scripps Spelling Bee, half of the entire 4th Grade at the school took part in the contest.
Aarav emerged as the champion when he was able to spell the word recital correctly. The runner-up was Drew Fargo.
Aarav will now advance to the Somerset County Spelling Bee championships that will be held on Friday, March 1, and it will be a virtual event. Drew will serve as the school’s alternate.
“Congratulations to Aarav and Drew,” Ms. Harwick said.
