Van Holton students release their trout

The life cycle was completed for trout that spent this school year at the Van Holten Primary School.

According to Van Holten Principal George Rauh, throughout the school year, Van Holten students in the  LLD classroom learned about the life cycle of a rainbow trout and the need for clean water.

“Students raised the trout from eggs provided by NJDFW (New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife)  in October to their current fingerling size at release,” Principal Rauh explained.

He added:

“These small trout were released (May 16) into a local Bridgewater stream.”

“The program is a big hit with our students as students from the past come back to participate in the release,” Principal Rauh said.
