One for all and all for one.
That was the message shared by the worldly educated 2nd Grade students at the Van Holten Primary School.
After two months of studying cultures from around the world from their dedicated team of 2nd Grade Teachers—Christy Baxter, Kelly Kokotajlo, Kristin Laine, and Rebecca Massa–the students put on a fantastic show about cultures around the globe.
It was quite a festival.
These young scholars presented Van Holten’s annual Multi-Cultural Festival on Wednesday, May 7.
The performance on the morning of May 7 entertained their fellow Van Holten schoolmates and staff. Then families and friends enjoyed an afternoon production, both held in the school’s gymnasium.
Once on stage, the students delivered a sparkling performance, featuring songs and dances about various cultures worldwide.
Italy, Australia, and Brazil were among the cultures the students presented on.
They also sang a beautiful rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Their show made their passionate teachers quite pleased—and proud.
Ms. Kokotajlo, one of the coordinators of this show, detailed the days leading up to the performance and the presentation itself on May 7.
“Over the last two months, the 2nd Graders at Van Holten Primary School have learned about their family cultures. They learned that New Jersey is a very diverse state filled with people from all over the world. They "traveled" to different countries to learn about their customs, traditions, currency, and food,” Ms. Kokotajlo said..
She added her review of the show.
“The culminating event was a cultural concert, which included songs that showcased the ideas of being a kind global citizen and embracing the differences and unique characteristics of one another.”
