andi team run

They ran for the fun—— and the funds.

The third Andi’s Team 5K event was held on Sunday, October 12, when the community of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District came out in packs of runners and walkers.

The highly popular event, which was run once again at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, resulted in a total of $37,000 raised for the A-T (Ataxia-Telangiectasia) Children’s Project.

The race was initiated two years ago by Kimberly Cook, a 3rd Grade Teacher at John F. Kennedy Primary School, and Lauren Young, who had served as the Nurse at the John F. Kennedy Primary School..

The race is organized in honor of Van Holten Primary School student Andi Young, Lauren’s daughter, who has A-T, which is a rare genetic disease that causes loss of muscle control and balance, and cancer, among other side effects

All of the funds raised go directly to Andi, who joined a clinical trial in Boston in June of this year of 2025.

“This year we raised $37,000 and we are so grateful to our sponsors, vendors, participants, and volunteers for another incredible event,” Ms. Cook declared.

Ms. Young was moved by the kindness and generosity provided by the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District families.

“I am so deeply grateful to the Bridgewater-Raritan community for being able to pivot with the crazy weather and make Andi’s Team 5K the success that it was,” Ms. Young said. “Whether you came in person or supported virtually, you helped us to surpass last year’s fundraising, and we were able to contribute over $37,000 to biomedical research to find a treatment or cure for A-T! “

Ms.Young added.

“Thank you doesn’tt feel like strong enough words to convey how appreciative our family is.”
